Tom is proud to be the Head Theatre Director at SCHS where he enjoys working with amazing students and department colleagues in a supportive and creative environment. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in performance from Stephen F. Austin State University and his Masters of Fine Arts in performance from the University of South Carolina. Before moving back to Texas, he spent 22 years as an actor performing professionally at the North Carolina Shakespeare
Festival, Classic Theatre Alliance in Augusta, Georgia, The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC, Trustus Theatre in Columbia, SC, and was a seven-year company member with the South Carolina Shakespeare Company. He also spent 3 years as a member of the professional improv comedy troupe the We're Not Your Mother players. Some of his acting credits include, Oberon/Theseus in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Leontes in A Winter's Tale, Antipholus of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors, Starbuck in The Rainmaker, Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew, The Chorus in Henry V, Gene in Side Man, Eddie Carbone in A View from the Bridge, Jerry in Betrayal, Richard Hennay in The 39 Steps and he originated the role of Actor 3 in Stephen Belber's The Transparency of Val. Tom has also taught theatre classes at the University of South Carolina, Newberry College, Midlands Technical College, Central Carolina Community College and Lee County High School.
Mrs. Johnson is the Assistant Theatre Director at SCHS. She has a Bachelor's in Theatre, minor in English, from Valparaiso University. She also has a Master's in Theatre Education from The University of Houston. She has been involved in Theatre since she was little. She loves writing, photography and astronomy. She’s taught public school for 13 years, private Theatre academies for about 3 years, and has also done some professional and community Theatre work. She loves teaching and sharing her passion for Theatre. Her students mean the world to her and are the reason she keeps coming back every day.
Mr.Cargile started theatre when he was 10 years old. He graduated from Angelo State University with a bachelors in Drama after doing 23 plays in his 3 years in college. He started teaching high school theatre in 2012. He serves SC Playhouse as the Technical Director, and designing most of the technical elements for the plays. You can always find him in the theatre hall wearing bright red shoes.
